The present owners took on this splendid property in a pretty ruinous state, and set about restoring it. Dating back to the 18th century, it is a manor house set in two acres of land, and yet in the middle of a village of the wine-growing slopes of the Côte chalonnaise. Wrought-iron entrance gates lead into the courtyard at the end of which the main house rises majestically, with to one side a tall pigeonnier. The original owners supplied wine to the abbey of Cluny and their house had a home farm not far beyond it. The entrance hall, with staircase, leads to a large and light living room with no fewer than five windows, and also to a large kitchen which in turn opens onto a long covered balcony with a good view. A smaller salon, an office, a bathroom with WC and the main bedroom with its dressing-room complete this level. The staircase leads up, via a huge billiard room, to a huge bedroom with bathroom and WC, and two further bedrooms which share a bathroom/WC, while on the floor above the attic has been made into a dormitory room for children.
As for the outbuildings, there is a barn, discreetly screened by a hedge, at the entrance to the property and this serves as garage for several cars. Adjoining the house, a series of smaller outbuildings - workshop, garage, boiler room and bread oven,plus alarge wine-cellar. The grounds slope down gently, criss-crossed by tiny streams, and at the foot of the pigeonnier is a swimming pool, with its surrounds enjoying a lovely view over the countryside.
The restoration of this extensive property has been painstaking, exacting - and very successful - with the use throughout of high-quality materials. Mission accomplished for the persent owners in the enhancement of their inherited property.
