Remote farmhouse, nicely restored, and a glorious view

Amid the five acres or so of its land, high on a hillside, stands this recenty restored farmhouse. To say its views are fine and extensive is rather an understatement. The distant hills are already the Beaujolais, for we are in the Southernmost part of Burgundy, The interior has been renovated with care to preserve original features and add modern comfort, always keeping the character of the house unchanged. At ground level, a pleasant light kitchen, a salon with terracotta floor-tiles and stone fireplace, an office and a bedroom, plus bathroom and WC. Stairs lead up from the kitchen to the upper floor, now two bedrooms and a bathroom, while the former attic serves as a dormitory bedroom. Next to the house a woodshed and small workshop. And across the courtyard a former outbuilding in stone has been opened up on both sides to make a covered terrace which enjoys the views to the full and is a perfect setting for summer evenings. There are a few trees and shrubs close to the house, a small woodland as part of the property, and also a stream and a well (The house is connected to mains water, of course, so the stream and the well are a plus rather than a necessity.) An ideal second home, in an uterrly tranquil position, yet only one hour's drive from Lyon and much less to the TGV station for rapid links to Paris.
